A corpus is a large collection of language texts, which we can analyse using software tools. ACORN now
contains c. 180 million words (the equivalent of 12.5 million text messages, 2-3000 books, 15 years
of a daily
broadsheet newspaper, or 7 years of non-stop conversation).
